The UVWorld site has been accepting registrations for a while now. So please don't wait and get registered soon! I haven't been to the mine yet but I've been told much much more material has been brought down again with the excavators! If you think you were amazed last time, this year should put you in awe. I will be going to the mine in a week or two to take updated photos to post here. Large crystals of genthelvite and apatite have been found. Powellite and baraite too! That should tell you that ANYTHING is possible to be found there :) So....... Go the site and sign up folks !!! It is limited just like the amount of parking !!

If you remember the safety guy with the glowsticks on his head, well that was me :) Somebody had to do it but it was funny to see all the looks I got! Take a look in the mining adventures section for a few pictures ;)
Yes I'll be there again - glowing that is :)

Interested in specimens such as this and others? You can find them in the sales section ! |
Fluorescent mineral collecting is such a fascinating hobby that never ceases to amaze the individual armed with an ultraviolet lamp. There is an abundance of things that nature has given us and yet it remains for all practical purposes a hidden world just waiting to be discovered. In these pages you'll find a slideshow of some of my discoveries over the years, pictures of the places I've visited and collected plus anything else I think might be of use to all the "Glowhounds". Enjoy !!! |
You can still find some great specimens out there. All you need is time and a good eye !!

A Trotter Wall treasure after 3 hours of hard work

The Trotter Triple Diggg was a smashing success !!! Maybe one day it will be opened again ..... |
This years sponsored dig was a smashing success!! We finally had a weekend filled with sunshine, warmth and smiling faces. A few noted faces from out of the past returned and it was a pleasure to chat and dig with them as well. But undoubtedly the most important event of the day and evening was provided by the professional film crew for Treasure HD filmed live in high definition! You can see photos by clicking on the arrow below or the image too.
|
The show is available on satellite and well worth the effort to see it! |
At the Sterling Super Diggg we will be showing this video on continuous loop for all to see !!!

Planning that special night out ???
This lunar phase calculator will let you know just when the darkest nights are coming :)

We lost a dear friend not too long ago. Nick Zipco was an inspiration to many of us who were fortunate enough to sit and have coffee and cake with him at his home. The days of seeing him selling his minerals at the Franklin Museum will be sadly missed. If you knew Nick, take a moment to stop by and say hello. Note: if anyone has photo's of Nick they feel should be included here please send them along.
